Phantom Flowers = an intimate view on floral pieces encased in resin and exposed to the elements for many years. As the original purpose of these relics was to be ‘perpetually’ beautiful and imperishable, I register the effect time and nature has on them and analogous to the memory of the deceased they were meant for they too irrevocably fade, wither and dissappear.
Phantom Flowers also is an archival project, conserving a lost art.
I use macrophotography for this series and I generally let the weather conditions – be it rainy, hot or freezing – decide the final outcome of the images.
